"To be married is nothing boring; if you are single — it's rather…"
What’s there in common between the plays "The Marriage" by N.V. Gogol, "The Proposal" by A.P. Chekhov and "The Marriage of Balzaminov" by A.N. Ostrovsky, besides the same theme? In all of them people are ruled not by love, but exceptionally by their benefits. Someone marries because of a global loneliness, another needs money, the third one wants to boast of a young wife in the societyand someone gets inspired for a family life by friends...
Keeping the original author's texts of all the plays, Yuri Grymov brings these eternal themes to the present, showing ironically the vices and requirements of the modern world.
"The Marriage" makes the audience smile and take a fresh look at many usual things.
