The characters of the play by Maxim Gorky find themselves in unexpected circumstances: Yuri Grymov, the director laid the scene ... to Rublyovka!
It’s here where the well-known personages appear in all their glory and a famous story becomes clear to our contemporaries.
At Rublyovka lives Vasilisa Karpovna, a typical "Rublyovka wife", frivolous Nastya, emancipated and hard-hearted Kvashnya, Baron and Satin, the thieves in law who know how to live by the code.
Without changing a word in the original Gorky text, Yuri Grymov gave a new life to this comic and tragic story, because such vivid characters live among us!
“The author's text is a taboo for me. Although I think if Maxim Gorky were writing “At the Bottom” nowadays, he would speak a different language. Meanwhile the story would be the same, because we speak about an immortal story”, Yuri Grymov points out.
